10 Burning Questions

Cecilia over at The Kitchen’s Garden, kindly tagged and challenged me a while back to answer these 10 questions about myself. I’ve tried to give you guys a little breather since my last post about me, and hopefully you’ve recovered by now, so I’m going to fire these off!

1. Describe yourself in seven words.
Caring human-being, loving wife and daughter, loyal friendartist, food-lover, cat-mother, nature-loving-good-intentioned-gardener. Oh, sorry, guess that was more like 7 titles, not 7 words.

2. What keeps you up at Night?
The sound of a leaf dropping. I’m an unbelievably light sleeper and function at a high level of sleep deficit.

3. Who would I like to be?
To quote a famous old cartoon character: “I am what’s I am, and that’s all what’s I am!” (No, I don’t wish to be Popeye the Sailor Man, or anyone else.)

4. What am I wearing right now?
Sweat-shirt, leggings, tennies….standard winter freelance work uniform.

5. What scares me?
Bad car drivers, cockroaches (eeeeeeek!), tornadoes…hmmm, there seems to be a pattern of unpredictability here, what does that mean?

6.  The best and worst of blogging.
The best: I think most of us who blog would answer this the same way, but the best of blogging for me is all the people you “meet” out there, reading their blogs, sharing ideas, commenting, being able to express yourself and be “heard,” “laughing” together, and learning about new stuff…oh my gosh, the learning! And I might add that I’ve gotten to know some folks I already knew much better through blogging, and also perhaps more about myself, as well!

The worst: This also is most likely the same answer many will give, but the worst of blogging is the increasing amount of time it takes—and that you want to take—to “see” everyone and read their posts and try to keep up with commenting (because you want to comment, don’t ya know?), and of course, still keep your own posts coming…and in the case of food blogs…still have time to cook!

7. The last website I visited.
Wikipedia.

8. What is the one thing I would change about myself.
I’d like to have a faster metabolism, or at least have inherited the natural “thinner” gene in my family, so that I didn’t have to worry about gaining weight! Wouldn’t that be swell?

9. Slankets yes or no?
I’m sure they are quite warm, but no, thanks.

10. Tell us something about the person who tagged you!

  • Cecilia was amongst the first bloggers to come and visit me, comment and subscribe, which was so encouraging, and she’s continued to be so encouraging and inspirational ever since!
  • The stories she tells and the imagery her written word conjures about her life, her farm, her animals and her experiences, are like reading a great book that you just cannot put down…and the photographs she takes are as compelling and masterfully done as the stories.
  • Her tips and her instructions on how to do or make things ranging from homemade wine to wax candles are such fun…I just want to do it, too!
  • She also has some great ideas on living one’s life to the fullest…very important stuff.
  • She’s started a one-woman mission (a most excellent idea) to get everyone to have a garden or grow something…big or small and you can check out her Kitchen’s Garden Project on Facebook.

And now I will do my tagging of some folks to be next in line to answer these questions…if you like. Happy answering. Cheerio for now!

    • Oh, no, don’t cry, Celi…I’m only speaking the truth…calling it as I see it, but of course you are so very welcome! And I thank you, for all of the above things I mentioned. I, like so many others, look forward to your stories and seeing what’s happening at the farmy each day. You’re so sweet to offer to share your metabolism…would that you could! 😉

  2. Great post, Betsy, and love getting to know you a bit better. Yes, tornadoes are truly frightening. Granted they’re not nearly as menacing as a spider but they’re still pretty scary. 🙂

    • Thanks very much, John, I’m so glad you enjoyed it. And you’re right about spiders, they can drop down on you without you knowing it and scare the bejeezies out of you, whereas tornadoes are a bit louder at least! 🙂

  3. Thank for this! It is the kick in the backside that I have needed to pay attention to my blog. I was so busy in the lead up to Christmas that my blog totally suffered and although I was cooking mountainous volumes of food I just wasn’t getting the time to write about it!! Now bloggers block has set in and the fear factor of not getting back into the rhythm of blogging again. It was hugely comforting to read that you find the input of time required challenging also. I thought it was just me!! Anyway, I will endeavor to address my blogging issue this week. Thanks, Rhoda :O)

    • Hey Rhoda, so good to hear from you again! I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and do hope that you’ll get back to it soon. I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers get flummoxed by the holidays…you are not alone. I just gave up on detailed posting Christmas week and posted images until I could get back to it, so I totally understand. 🙂 I look forward to seeing what you’ve been up to! ~Betsy

  4. Oh, I’ve been tagged. Oh, the pressure!!! Thanks so much Betsy, that’s so kind of you. I’ve been enjoying reading all about the bloggers who have been tagged and was oblivious to the idea that someone might tag me! Yes, the elusive slim gene with the built-in motorised metabolism that is dished out to an undeserving few. Some of them don’t even like food. And I’ve heard they’re all very annoying types. Best to be you Betsy!

    • No pressure, Charlie Louie (what a great name that is, btw), just thought it would be fun to read more about you…if you’d like to answer. ‘Elusive slim gene…to an undeserving few,’ ha, ha, ha, right you are! 🙂 I’ve heard the same thing about some of them not liking food, too…the nerve! You’re most welcome for being tagged and thanks for stopping by!

  5. Oh.. I wish I has a faster metabolism. I used to have one, but now I am noticing it has started to slow down. I miss the days I could eat anything and work it off fast lol. Thanks for also including me to so these fun question 🙂

    • Hi Kiran, thanks so much for stopping by and your comments! I haven’t been through a hurricane on the coast but have been through Opal when it came through Atlanta. It still had quite a whallop and was enough to make me know for sure I don’t want to be in the middle of one at full force! I’m going to check out your blog right now! ~BB
