With Love, from Betsy

During the time of my adventures with the little chicken, I managed to catch up on some posts from my fellow bloggers, and found that I had been given some new blog love in the form of 7 awards! Oh, my goodness, that is some grand love indeed, and from two of my favorite bloggers besides. 🙂

First off, Mandy over at The Complete Cook Book, passed along 6 awards, The Liebster Blog Award, The Versatile Blogger Award, The Sunshine Award, The Kreativ Blogger Award, Stylish Blogger Award, and the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award. How very kind, and I am so grateful for such high praise from someone whose blog I admire so much! Mandy is from South Africa and is a fabulous cook with a book out, a book that she will generously share on line, so please do click above to see her blog and get more info about the book. In addition to sharing posts about what’s going on in her kitchen and her great tips, she occasionally shares glimpses of her life, her cats, her lovely yard and her village, and has a monthly excerpt from an old cookbook of her mom’s that is just fascinating. You’ll have to see for yourself and visit her, you really must!

Then a bit more recently, Cecilia over at the Kitchen’s Garden also bestowed the Kreativ Blogger Award to me, with such kind words and graciousness. Cecilia is from New Zealand originally, but now lives on and works a wee sustainable farm in the Mid-west prairie region of the U.S., along with her husband and her wonderful farm animals. A mother, a farmer, a cook, a writer, a photographer, a former theatre director…that names only just a few of the many hats she wears and has worn. From the moment I first read her blog I was enchanted, as so many of us are, and I can’t imagine getting through my day anymore without reading about life on the farmy and seeing her amazing photos. If you haven’t visited her, well, you just must do it now! (But do come back after you visit both these gals.)

So now that you two have made my head swell so large, I just won’t be able to get back into my kitchen until I share some of this love. Thanks so very much!

These awards are all given to, and passed along by, fellow bloggers and were developed not only to show appreciation of other bloggers you admire who have less than 200 subscribed followers, but also to help generate interest and enjoyment of those blogs. Each award has a little bit different criteria, though usually there’s some overlap. Since I’ve already had the pleasure to receive and bestow two of these six—the Leibster Blog, and the Versatile Blogger Award—I’ll concentrate on addressing the others and you can click on those two named above to see the corresponding posts and nominees, and also here for my 10 questions answered.

I’ve decided to choose criteria from one of these remaining 4, since otherwise if I did this four times…well, let’s just say you’d be asleep or would have clicked off to some other place, and I wouldn’t blame you one bit! Since the Kreativ Blogger Award was given to me by both ladies above, I shall do that one in combo with the Sunshine Award, because I like the name of it. Here goes…

1. Favourite color?
Orange, it’s such a happy color. And yes, that would include the 2012 Pantone color of the year: Tangerine Tango

2. Favourite animal?
Cats

3. Favourite number?

3, it’s a design friendly number.

4. Favourite drink?
Non alcoholic – Black Cherry Herb Tea
Alcoholic – Champagne, very dry and biscuity, please

5. Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. Not only am I too wordy for Twitter, but I just can’t seem to appreciate the seduction of “tweeting.”

6. Your passion?
Living.

7. Giving or getting presents?
Giving. I really enjoy seeing other people open presents so much more than I enjoy getting them or opening them myself. I love to see the initial reaction in the “moment” that someone first sees what’s inside the box….and hopefully they like it!

8. Favourite day?
A tie as that would either be a beautiful spring day spent with someone I love, or a beautiful fall day spent with someone I love.

 9. Favourite flowers?
Cut flowers would be roses, and in the ground it would have to be wild violets.

Now it’s time for me to pay forward these kind awards. There are so many of you that I follow and enjoy…and comment on…you know who you are! I’ve chosen to share this particular round of love with folks who I think may meet the number of under 200 followers criteria (though this is really hard to tell when you can’t see it on your page), who I don’t believe already have any of these awards, who I think actually may accept awards in general, and who I haven’t awarded before…at least I don’t think I have. But just know, you’re all winners in my book!

A brief note to my nominees. This is all supposed to be in fun, so please don’t panic or feel pressure to do anything about these awards. If you already have one of these, just move on, or on to the next. Don’t have time/desire to participate?…no worries, I’m not offended. If you want to look up each award criteria and do it, fine. Do them all at once or do them separately. Do them not at all…just smile and say thank you…keep it light and fun!

So, with love from Betsy, here are my nominees in no particular order:

Eva, at Kitchen Inspirations

Charles, at Five Euro Food

Gretchen, at A Fine Day for an Epiphany

Norma, at Garden to Wok

Carol Anne, at Rock Salt

Tia, at I am Simply Tia

Stephanie, at A Dash of Sugar and Spice

Choc Chip Uru, at Go Bake Yourself

Rhoda, at Rhoda Kirwan

Bobbi, at Bam’s Kitchen

Congratulations to all of you, and a big thanks again to Mandy and Cecilia. I hope each and every one of you out there has a fantastic weekend! xoxo~BB

    • Thank you, Barbara, that’s so kind of you! I’m not sure if our wild violets are different from some you might buy in a store, really. They aren’t pansies and I know African violets are different, but the wild ones I refer to just grow like weeds in the grass and in the mountains around here and come up each year of their own accord so are periennial. They are so sweet…some pale purple, some white, some dark purple and some purple/white variegated, with thin little stems supporting the big blossoms and their little heart shaped leaves! I’ll take a picture of the first spring one I see and post it!

  7. Betsy a late appreciation and congratulations to you. WOW, I’m impressed with the number of awards you have received but recognise that they are well deserved!! :O)
Also thank you so much for the nomination, I am honored, thrilled and also grateful because you have offered words of wisdom to me in the past and I really appreciate that. Blogging is time consuming but so rewarding and my only gripe is that I don’t seem to get as much time to do it that i would like. Thanks again, you’re an inspiration!! Rhoda :O)
